Angus Timber Manufacturer, One Of Scotland’s Oldest Family Businesses, Celebrates 150 Years Anniversary
Specialist timber manufacturer, Alexander Sturrock (Sturrock’s Joinery) marks a key milestone in its history – celebrating 150 years in business.
The Angus-based firm has been in the ownership of the Sturrock family for six generations since its inception in 1872 and has grown to become the leader in its market. The company specialises principally in the production of replacement timber components for historic properties.
With an expansive purpose-built production facility in Whigstreet (South of Forfar) the business employs 24 people and undertakes a mixture of conservation and heritage work. They are also, widely regarded to be, the longest established specialist manufacturer of timber sash and case windows in Scotland.
Alex Sturrock Jnr, managing director, and Sarah Sturrock, financial director jointly commented: “This is a significant milestone in the history of the firm. Throughout the six generations, we have worked very hard for a long time, investing heavily in all areas of the business to become one of a select few who can do what we do. We not only have one of the best equipped workshops for a company of our size, we have a great team with immense knowledge and experience.”
They added: “We would like to pay particular thanks to our parents for their dedication, hard work and investment in the business under their tenure; without which we would not be where we are today.”
