The Difference

Crafting timber sash and case windows since 1872

Alexander Sturrock is without doubt the premier manufacturer of hardwood sash and case windows in the country.

Our exacting quality standards and attention to the smallest detail positions us as the provider of choice for both private and commercial clients.

We have a long track record in replacing timber sash and case windows for historic, period and listed buildings. Our ability to match astragal detail on a like-for-like basis gives us a unique differentiation – our sash and case windows are truly unique to each project.

Our impressive production facilities enable us to provide a bespoke solution in large volumes – something that most people would regard a dichotomy but a position that we believe makes us unique in the joinery manufacturing market.

Alexander Sturrock has the capability to manufacture any shape or size of timber sash and case windows in any volume.

We have particular expertise in curved, shaped, radiused and large-sized sash and case windows – components that most joinery manufacturers would shy away from; we relish these intricate projects.

We have spent considerable time and resources investing in the technical development of our timber sash and case windows from a traditional authenticity perspective but importantly from an energy performance and durability aspect.

Our fully finished windows come with nail-less timber beading, which means no nail holes are present leaving the highest quality of finish. Twin colour finishing is also available, allowing you to have a different colour finish on the outside from the inside. Bespoke ironmongery can also be specified and selected to compliment the finish.

We also have considerable expertise in the development and use of thin double glazing in traditional timber sash and case windows. For example we were the first to manufacture and supply a bespoke double glazed window solution (using thin double glazing) for a Grade B Listed building in Edinburgh’s World Heritage Site.
