The prestigious Quartermile development in the heart of Edinburgh’s World Heritage Site involves the redevelopment of the city’s former Royal Infirmary.
When complete the site will consist of 900 residential apartments, c350,000 square feet of office space, c55,000 square feet of retail space and a 107 bed hotel.
The building’s sandstone blocks, with turrets and conical slate roofs, are being restored to their 1870s glory. The site includes many Victorian listed buildings with complex planning issues.
Our client needed a solution for their windows that would:
- Retain the period character of the property
- Satisfy listed building constraints
- Perform to the highest standards from an energy efficiency perspective
- Finished to a level that reflected the sheer quality of the development as a whole
